We are not Gooderhams but are researching along a line which in
part ties into the Gooderhams, Sibbalds and Charltons in Ontario. Of however
many daughters the Forsters had in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, one, Mary, married
Robert McQueen, the descendants of which union include my husband. Another
daughter, Catherine, married Joseph Gardner 31 Jan 1807. I am aware of 3
children from that union, Robert (b 10 Dec 1807), Luke (b 19 Sep 1809) and
Mary (b 15 Aug 1911). There could well have been more children. My
mother-in-law used to say to us that from this line came the Gardners who were
land owners at Britannia and from them the connection to the Sibbalds, the
Gooderhams and the Charltons.
I have a few death notices for these families from the birthday
book of her mother. We also have a group of photos, all taken about 1860. We
can identify John McQueen and his wife Margaret with their children. The other
people we believe to be the Gardner/Sibbald/Charlton/Gooderham members or
whomever of that close group. They were people some of whom were in touch with
my husband's grandmother, hence the reason she kept death notices. If you are
interested in finding our a little about this line or think it might be of
interest to Paul just email me as above.
